How to Read Your HYROX Race Time Predictor Splits

Most race time predictors give you one number: a guess at your finish time. That number is fine for curiosity, but it's close to useless for training, because it doesn't tell you what to actually do differently next week.

Why the breakdown matters more than the total

Our free Race Time Predictor splits your predicted finish into running time, total station time, and RoxZone (transition) time, then breaks the station time down further across all 8 official HYROX stations individually. That's the part worth paying attention to.

Reading the station-by-station split

Once you enter your fresh 1km time and rate your station strength, you'll see an estimated split for SkiErg, Sled Push, Sled Pull, Burpee Broad Jump, Rowing, Farmers Carry, Sandbag Lunges, and Wall Balls. One of these will usually be flagged as your weakest relative to the others, that's the calculator's biggest-opportunity call-out.

That flag is the whole point. If your weakest station is costing you more time relative to your other stations than it should, that's what to prioritize in your next training block, not "more running in general." Adding running volume when your actual limiter is Sled Pull technique doesn't move your finish time much. Fixing Sled Pull does.

Stations vs. running: which is actually your limiter

The calculator also tells you directly whether stations or running is your bigger limiter, based on whether your estimated station time exceeds about 70% of your running time. This matters because most people training for their first race default to running more, when for a lot of people the stations are the actual gap.

What to do with the result

Run the calculator honestly (rate your stations for where you actually are, not where you want to be), note your flagged weakest station and your priority (stations vs. running), and build your next few weeks of training around closing that specific gap. Re-run it again after a month of focused work and see whether the flag moved.

If you want that structure built for you automatically instead of figuring it out yourself, that's exactly what the monthly Station Zero training blocks do.
